The first full week of December brings with it a slew of great indie releases featuring new and Early Access titles, as well as some beloved games making their way to other platforms.
Here are our picks for this week in indie games, December 5 – 11.
Looking for Aliens – December 8 (PC)
I have a soft spot for hidden object games, especially after experiencing the wholesome, yet challenging Hidden Through Time. Looking for Aliens – from developer Yustas Games Studio – falls well within that same vein, tasking you with finding hidden aliens (along with over 250 other items) throughout the game’s 25 minimalistic yet surprisingly detailed locations, which include Area 51, a dream world, outer space, and a farm. Looking for Aliens will launch on December 8 for PC via Steam. A free-to-play demo of the game is also available now on Steam.
Wytchwood – December 9 (PC)
Wytchwood – from developer Alientrap – is a crafting adventure game that puts you in the heart of a fairy tale land filled with gothic fables. You’ll take on the role of the old witch of the woods, exploring the land that is filled with whimsical creatures as you collect resources and craft magical spells to help you on your journey. The charming, yet creepy art design alone makes this one worth checking out. Wytchwood will launch on December 9 for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun – Aiko's Choice – December 6 (PC)
Mimimi Games’ Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun – Aiko's Choice is the expansion to the incredibly popular stealth strategy game, Shadow Tactics. You take on the role of Aiko (along with her deadly assassin teammates) as they hunt down the ghosts of her past throughout Edo Japan. Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun – Aiko's Choice is available now on PC via Steam. To celebrate the launch, the Shadow Tactics: Anniversary Bundle is also on sale for a whopping 61% off, if you’re looking to have a complete collection of the acclaimed stealth series.
Heavenly Bodies – December 7 (PS4, PS5, PC)
Heavenly Bodies – from indie developer and publisher 2pt Interactive – puts a space station in your hands… literally. Set in the 1970s, the physics-based title puts you in the role of a cosmonaut as they work on a space station in the empty vastness of zero gravity outer space – their arms and hands controlled by individual buttons. Beyond repairing the station, you’ll be responsible for manipulating space vehicles and other elaborate pieces of machinery, whether you’re playing by yourself or with a friend in the game’s local co-op mode. Heavenly Bodies is available now for PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam.
A few other indie games to check out includes a handful of titles that are in Early Access, or have already been released and are making their debut on other platforms:
- Crimzon Clover World EXplosion (Port) – Available now for PC via Steam
- Rune Factory 4 Special (Port) – Available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam
