Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes has a launch date on PlayStation 4 and Windows PC: Oct. 17. The third game in Suda51’s eclectic series launched in January on Nintendo Switch.
The sequel arrives nine years after No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle for the Wii. Travis Strikes Again varies from its predecessors in switching from a third-person to a top-down view, and paired with the lightsaber-like Beam Katana the resulting hack-and-slash gameplay is much more arcadelike.
The PlayStation 4 and PC edition (launching on Steam) will bundle the main game and its post-launch DLC extensions, Black Dandelion and Bubblegum Fatale. Those add the playable characters Shinobu Jacobs and Badgirl, as well as some cosmetics for Travis to wear around town.
No More Heroes’ over-the-top schtick isn’t for everyone, but it is a Suda51 game. Like previous titles, Travis Strikes Again is littered with references to pop culture and other video games, often in the form of minigames that break up the main action.
