Chris Hardwick will appear in Borderlands 3, developer Gearbox Software confirms

Gearbox Software has confirmed that Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick will appear in Borderlands 3, despite allegations of abuse leveled against him last year. Hardwick’s character, Vaughn, was first introduced in Telltale’s adventure game, Tales from the Borderlands, and will appear in Borderlands 3, Gearbox confirmed to The Verge.

Last year, actress Chloe Dykstra posted a detailed account of sexual and emotional abuse by an ex-boyfriend. Dykstra doesn’t specify who exactly the person in the post is, but many believe it to be Hardwick. She later tweeted about the news of his return to the Borderlands series, as well.

Hardwick was removed from, but later returned to, the About page of the Nerdist website where he is listed as the founder after the allegations were made public. The Nerdist staff issued a statement that said that Hardwick’s inclusion on the page as its founder is, “not intended to imply any change in our ongoing support of women and victims, nor does it change our business relationship with Hardwick, which concluded in 2017.”

Hardwick was also removed temporarily from his hosting positions with AMC, where he hosts Talking with Chris Hardwick, Talking Saul, Talking Preacher, and Talking Dead. However, after an internal investigation performed by AMC Hardwick was reinstated as the host of these shows.
