A Reddit AMA has unearthed a few extra details about Watch Dogs: Legion, such as the online modes and how it runs on next gen.
Over the last few months, we have learnt that some of the first games coming to next gen consoles still only run at 30 frames per second, such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
Earlier today, it’s been revealed that this also applies to Ubisoft’s other big release for this year, Watch Dogs: Legion.
The news comes from a Reddit AMA with Ubisoft live producer Lathieeshe Thillainathan, who was asked what features the game will have on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Thillainathan confirmed that it will have ray-tracing and run at 4K on both versions, though at 30fps.
He didn’t mention there being an option to downgrade the graphics in exchange for 60fps, as is the case with Spider-Man: Miles Morales and other titles.
It’s likely that part of the reason for this is because Watch Dogs: Legion isn’t being developed specifically for next gen and is also coming out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
It’s still rather disappointing to hear though, considering how much Sony hyped up the power of the PlayStation 5 and Microsoft even said that 60fps would be the norm for Xbox Series X games.
Thillainathan also touched upon the game’s online multiplayer, where players can work together to accomplish co-op missions. It will be completely independent of the single-player campaign, so progress can’t be carried from one to the other.
He confirmed that Watch Dogs: Legion will allow for cross-progression, so you can start playing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, then carry your save to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S version, with cross-play to be incorporated later down the line.
And while the game has a season pass, Thillainathan has insisted that there will be free content available for everyone as well, including new missions and playable characters.
Watch Dogs: Legion will release on October 29 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. The Xbox Series X/S release will come on November 10.
It will then release digitally on PlayStation 5 on November 12, with a physical release coming on November 24.
