Destroy All Humans launched last year on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia – leaving Switch players without a way to join in on the Earth-conquering hijinks. That’s all about to change in June, however, as THQ Nordic has confirmed the game for a Switch release on June 29.
The announcement on Twitter was both hilarious and heartbreaking, as fans were initially led to believe a remake of Destroy All Humans 2 was about to be revealed. The account asked, “What do a Destroy All Humans remake and the number 2 have in common?”
Not surprisingly, fans thought a sequel remake was about to drop.
Instead, THQ Nordic made a poop joke:
Congratulations THQ – you’ve won the internet for today.
In all seriousness, it’s a bit surprising Destroy All Humans took so long to get a Switch release. The nostalgic title seems well-suited to the portable console, and there’s no denying the appeal of classic games on any Nintendo system. Destroy All Humans will be available for $39.99, although fans in Europe can also pick up the pricey Crypto-137 and DNA Collector’s Edition for a bit more swag.
Destroy All Humans has seen a fair bit of post-release support, as last month it received an update to run at 60fps on PS5. THQ Nordic also added a few new skins to the mix, along with various bug and performance fixes.
When it released last year, the remade Destroy All Humans earned fairly positive reviews. More than a simple cash grab, much of the game had been reworked for modern consoles, including vastly improved graphics. The heart of the experience was still intact, however, along with its crash humor from another era.
Still, if you can look past a few rough edges, Destroy All Humans offers a lot of fun. With hundreds of collectibles, several unique maps to explore, and challenging enemies, there’s plenty of content to keep you busy. It’ll be interesting to see how the remade game runs on Switch, although we don’t have long to wait – Destroy All Humans will release for Switch on June 29.
