Nintendo's flagship fighting game – and the most ambitious crossover title in gaming history – is about to get even more ambitious.
Nintendo veteran and Smash Bros. game director Masahiro Sakurai has announced a new livestream will be taking place on Jan. 16 at 2pm UK time that will show off 35 minutes of new footage relating to the next Smash Bros character.
This newest addition will come after Persona 5's Joker, Dragon Quest's Hero, Banjo-Kazooie and Piranha Plant.
Though we don't know who the next character coming to the game may be, we have seen some hints from other industry veterans that could suggest who we may seeing.
Last week, Capcom's Matt Walker, a producer from the Devil May Cry team, sent out a video detailing more information about the upcoming port of Devil May Cry 3 on the Nintendo Switch.
Though fans are expecting updates on Devil May Cry 3 for Nintendo Switch , we also got hints that some extra Devil May Cry news will be arriving for Nintendo fans on January 16th .
Are these dates a coincidence? We think not.
As far as Smash Bros DLC goes, “All packs will be released by Feb. 2020," as per Nintendo.
Walker teases three dates in his message: "January 16th, January 30th and February 13th".
To add fuel to the fire, Brian Hanford (known for voicing V in Devil May Cry) recently revealed he loves the Super Smash Bros series and is an active Ultimate player.
Hanford talks about how much he'd like to be in the series, but sadly hasn't had the opportunity since he's a new character… but that another, more mascot-worthy character could be coming to the fighter.
“To be part of Marvel vs Capcom or Super Smash Bros would be huge, which is what Dante is going to be,” the actor seemed to suggest in the podcast.
We'll hear more about what characters are coming to the game this Thursday at 2pm. We'll keep you updated.
