PS4 System Update Fixes Launch Issue For Cyberpunk 2077 Disc Players

As players return to Cyberpunk 2077, many seem pleasantly surprised with all the changes – especially PS5 and Xbox Series X/S users. However, it looks like last gen fans have drawn the short straw once again, as those playing on physical copies of the PS4 release couldn't even start the game.

Now, Sony has rolled out a system update that seems to have fixed the problem, although it's not clear what caused it in the first place. PS4 players were constantly told that the game files were corrupted – and even deleting and reinstalling wouldn't fix it.

Unlike previous Cyberpunk fixes, the update is to the actual system itself. It's not known if the problem was on Sony or CD Projekt Red's end, but it appears that Sony has now addressed it with the PS4 update. It doesn't seem that those playing with physical Xbox One copies experienced this issue.

On top of this, an update was quietly rolled out for PC players. While we're yet to see any official patch notes for this, it's likely that this is in aid of addressing reports of crashes on the platform following the version 1.5 update. Players are also reporting seeing improvements in ray tracing, so the game should look even better now.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A current-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players is also live now.
