Earlier this week Minecraft released the biggest update to the game since the Buzzy Bees update.
Yes, it was the long-awaited release of the Nether update, first teased last year at Minecon.
Somehow if you skipped over this new expansion and new to the world of Minecraft, don't worry. There's a quick recap for you further down.
The update itself was released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, Windows 10, and more on the Bedrock version.
Bedrock edition refers to the multi-platform family of editions of Minecraft, whilst those on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux use the Java version.
The problem is, since the release of this new update to the Bedrock edition, players on PS4 have been having some rather big problems.
Namely players have been unable to load into the game past the red Mojang Studio's splash screen.
For those curious, whilst this is Minecraft update 1.16, on PS4, it will show as 2.07 and require 435 MB space to download on the PlayStation 4 family of consoles.
Despite the update launching on Tuesday, these issues are still being reported by players on PS4 pm Saturday evening.
As you can see above, it's more than just one rogue player, but seemingly quite a few users experiencing issues.
So far Minecraft's main support account ( @MojangSupport ) has not issues a direct message regarding the problems, but some users who have tweeted directly have been given something of an update.
"The problem you've described sounds like a temporary issue and should have been resolved now." Mojang Support is telling users.
"If you are still having problems, please try reinstalling the game or refer to our MojangStatus Twitter page for more and upcoming information."
The same advice has also been issued, on and off, by fellow players on the game's subreddit.
As noted by one player, you also don't need to worry about losing your save data:
"Uninstalling the game doesn't remove save data. If you're worried back up your world to PS Plus online storage (if you have it)."
So there's your fix. Hopefully it will allow you to skip by the Mojang Splash Screen so you can dive into the new Nether update.
And if you want a reminder of whats in store for you, here it is, just below the new trailer:
Minecraft Nether Update
"The Nether Update brings the heat to an already fiery dimension with new biomes, mobs, and blocks. Discover Netherite, a powerful new material that makes diamond look like cobblestone. Beware the Piglins as you either trade blows or strike a deal. Avoid the hideous Hoglins, or hunt them for a snouty snack. "
"Explore the Nether Wastes, search the Soulsand Valleys, traverse the Basalt Deltas, or venture into the Crimson and Warped Forests. But don’t forget to craft a respawn anchor. You know, just in case. It’s not like you’re going to get knocked into lava, or have a heated argument when bartering with a Piglin."
