Overwatch's annual Winter Wonderland event is due to start soon, with the event traditionally kicking off towards the end of January, or start of February, to coincide with the Chinese New Year.
The annual event is a cause of celebration for gamers, because as well as introducing more themed skins to the highly-regarded hero shooter, it also brings in new modes to break up the competitive gameplay that forms the core of the Overwatch experience.
The next Overwatch Lunar New Year event hasn't got a launch date just yet, but usually we can look into the past to determine the future when it comes to predicting the launch date of the events.
To learn everything we know about the upcoming Overwatch seasonal event, carry on reading below. We'll keep you updated as soon as Blizzard starts announcing the skins and features that'll be added to the game in this now-annual tradition to welcome in the Chinese New Year.
Overwatch Lunar New Year 2020 – Start time, start date
In 2019, Lunar New Year (Year of the Pig) started on 24 January and ended on 18 February for the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions of the game.
In 2018, the event was later to coincide more directly with the Lunar New Year event – Lunar New Year (Year of the Dog) started on 8 February and ended 6 March.
Way back in 2017, the first Lunar New Year event, Year of the Rooster, started on 24 January and ended on 13 February.
If the event subscribes to the timing of past Overwatch events, and lines up with the calendar properly, we're likely to see the event (Year of the Rat) start at around 6pm on Thursday, January 23rd or Tuesday, January 28th
Blizzard loves its Tuesday or Thursday updates, and this year the actual Chinese New Year falls on January 25th, so these dates are the most likely updates we're likely to see.
You can likely expect the event to run for three weeks, as per most Overwatch events.

Overwatch Lunar New Year 2020 – Skins
Nothing has been revealed about the new skins that'll be added to the game as part of the event yet, but there is one key thing we know about this year's theme: it's the Year of the Rat.
Does that mean we can expect Blizzard to pay specific attention to everyone's favourite Aussie junker, Junkrat?
We certainly hope so.
We'll keep you update with any announcements or leaks as they happen.
