Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings Of Ruin Coming To Nintendo Switch In 2021

The Nintendo Switch is getting more Monster Hunter titles than originally thought, as Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will be released Summer 2021.

The original Monster Hunter Stories was released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2016. The game is a more kid-friendly RPG than the regular Monster Hunter games, as the player befriends the monsters and uses them as allies/mounts, unlike the mainline entries in the series, where the player brutally murders them and makes armor from their skin. Monster Hunter Stories was more akin to games in the Pokémon series, as the player had to find eggs and train their monsters from a young age, so that they become potent fighters and help the main character finish quests.

There have been rumors circulating about a new Monster Hunter game on the Nintendo Switch for months now, and we finally have the details. Nintendo announced during the recent Partner Showcase that two new Monster Hunter games were coming to the system – Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2. A trailer for the game has been uploaded to the GameXplain YouTube channel.

According to the trailer, the Rathalos in the region have started vanishing, which is likely caused by the arrival of new monsters. The player will be able to fight alongside classic monsters from the series, like Rathian, Rathalos, and Tigrex. It’s unclear whether any changes have been made to the combat system.

The original Monster Hunter Stories was an excellent turn-based JRPG with a well-balanced battle system that made the different monster mounts feel unique. The game was limited by the hardware of the Nintendo 3DS, and we’re excited to see what the sequel can do on the Switch. The release of both Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin and Monster Hunter Rise means that Switch fans will have an abundance of new content next year, which helps to make up for the fact that Monster Hunter World completely skipped the system in the past.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings Of Ruin will be released for Nintendo Switch in Summer 2021.
