The Xbox now has its own fragrance line, but it’s unclear whether it wants you to smell like a gamer… or less like one.
As everyone waits for Microsoft to reveal their next gen console and streaming plans at E3 there’s a new range of Xbox products that could affect gamers’ lives even more.
The Lynx fragrance range includes body spray, shower gel, and deodorant, and according to the official description smells delightful:
‘Lynx Xbox is a fresh scent of pulsing green citrus, featuring top notes of kaffir lime and winter lemon, aromatic herbal middle notes of mint and sage, and woody bottom notes of patchouli and clearwood. Containing a range of natural essential oils, the Xbox Lynx range comes with a sleek new look and features a body spray, deodorant, and shower gel.’
For some reason the products are being launched in Australia and New Zealand first, and will be available in July. Presumably if they’re a success they’ll be released elsewhere.
According to the Australian Xbox boss, as quoted by GameSpot, the range is to enable gamers to ‘power up’ before leaving the house, rather than ensuring they smell fragrant while actually playing.
Gaming brands, including Xbox, are regularly used to promote soft drinks and junk food, particularly in America, but this is something of a first.
As funny as it all seems Xbox creator Seamus Blackley doesn’t appear to be amused, although if he’s thinking of taking to the bottle he should bear in mind that all the products are alcohol free.
