IKEA and ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) announced a partnership to create “affordable gaming furniture accessories” with a starting lineup of 30 products.
The Swedish furnishing company says the products range from functionality to home gaming furniture and were designed by the IKEA Product Development Center in Shanghai.
“By teaming up with ROG, IKEA wants to combine its home furnishing knowledge with ROG’s expertise in creating exceptional gaming experience,” IKEA states. Although the company also mentioned it would design “affordable gaming furniture accessories,” it is assumed it and ASUS will mostly produce gaming desks and gaming chairs.
This isn’t the first move toward furniture manufactures producing PC gaming products. Logitech recently joined forces with Herman Miller for a gaming chair. However, IKEA says it’s looking at gaming as “cross-demographic,” meaning its products may be meant to blend in with existing decor than the usual gaming products.
The range is expected to launch in China in February 2021 and in the United States by October 2021.
Recently, IKEA showcased its 2021 furniture catalog using Animal Crossing.
