Fortnite players might be legion, but some of them are highly creative as well. While most spend time trying to outwit and out maneuver each other in the battle royale mode, a few others are building some truly incredible maps. Now, one of these is schooling Fortnite players in the history of Hideo Kojima's most famous game creation.
Fortnite's creative mod allows for some inspired maps. The official Fortnite Twitter has shared this Fall Guys-inspired map, while the recreation of Rapture in a Bioshock map became much talked about. But a new Metal Gear Solid Fortnite map is looking exceptionally well crafted (via PCGamesN).
NaoEdwin is the creator and his 'Metal Gear Solid – History mode' is an impressive feat. He included recreations of MGS' famous Codec conversations, the stealth, the ambience, the industrial aesthetic, the blizzard conditions of the first Metal Gear Solid, and other aspects of Kojima's series.
While not everyone gets to publish their map so that everyone can enjoy playing in them, NaoEdwin revealed via Reddit that Epic has approved his creator code and that he can soon share the map and code — although we haven't heard back from him since about this so perhaps we are waiting on Epic for the all clear.
In the 15-minute video NaoEdwin shows their character stealthing through a snowy level, using a silenced pistol to take out guards, collecting more gear, and generally being a pretty solid Solid Snake. Later on, there's more action as the player shotguns his way through guards.
In a second video, which you can watch here, the player navigates his way though security laser beams, and takes on a boss who is hard to defeat since they're obscured by blizzard conditions. Overall, the map looks like a rather neat homage to Kojima's game series and players could learn about where it started, in 3D anyway, as Metal Gear Solid became a breakout success for the Japanese developer when it launched on original PlayStation in 1998.
