Silas is one of the many optional/missable bosses in Fallen Legion Revenants, and he is one of the more interesting ones. What Silas lacks in just about every conceivable area, he makes up for it in a bizarre amount of burst damage and an endless horde of minions who are ready to overwhelm you if you don’t go into this fight prepared.
Silas is one of the Ashdown clan, and he has become heavily corrupted by the Miasma. If Silas has turned into one of the Slaugh, well, it doesn’t bode well for the Matriarch you are trying to find in Chapter Two. Grab your Exemplars, you are going to be in for a right merry scrap.
Silas is seriously lacking when it comes to attacks. He probably has the least number of attacks out of all the bosses in Fallen Legion Revenants coming in with only one – but he also just so happens to be one of the most resourceful thanks to a few skills in his tool kit that makes this fight unique.
|Cyclone Sceptre||This is Silas’ main attack, and it is one heck of a hit. Silas will use this mostly after a Stagger, and it will strike all Exemplars for around about 1000 damage. This is enough to kill in two-three hits.||This attack is very similar to Skullcrusher – the attack used by the spear-wielding Slaugh you’ve bumped into almost constantly. The timing is also incredibly similar, so Block/Deflect/Parry it like you would any other version of this attack. Just be aware that if you do miss the timing, you are going to take a heft chunk of damage.|
|Summon||Despite Cyclone Sceptre being his main attack, Sila’s signature skill is actually Summon. Silas can summon Spear Guards, Shield Bearers and Riflemen to his side.||These minions are a nightmare to deal with simply because Silas casts this spell so often, and they will always get in the way of your attacks. You need to get rid of them quickly – Air being their universal weakness. You can also use Push/Pull to move Silas to the frontlines.|
|Might Earth & Shield Earth||Silas buffs all tiles on his side of the battlefield with either Might or Shield. Might makes all enemy attacks more powerful, whereas Shield increases every enemy's defence.||There is no counter – you just have to wait it out and continue as normal. The fewer minions Silas has, the less impactful this skill is.|
Silas is a summoner, and he fits the bill perfectly. He will summon constantly, and he is very fond of buffing his minions. Because of this, you need to deal with them. Air attacks are the preferred method as all three minions are weak to it.
Moving Silas is also a good idea, as you can bypass his minions by moving him to the front. Silas is not particularly tanky, so you can deal massive amounts of damage this way.
As the fight goes on, purple Trance tiles will start to spawn, and this is when the fight gets spicy and a whole new mechanic gets added. Silas will start to use Cyclone Sceptre constantly. This attack is far too powerful to ignore, thankfully, there is a way around this. Silas can be moved off of this tile with any Push/Pull effect, and this will remove his ability to use Cyclone Sceptre at will.
Not only that, but a green debuff tile also spawns. If Silas steps on this tile, he takes massively increased BP damage, letting you quickly burst him down for a Rushdown. Keep an eye on these tiles and move Silas accordingly.
Which Exemplars To Use
As far as we are aware, Silas is not weak to any Element, but he is also not resistant, either. This cannot be said for his minions, all of which are weak to Air. This makes Zulfiqar an excellent choice as his Air Deathblow, Radiant Smite, is outstanding. Not only that, Radiant Smite deals a shocking amount of damage to Silas too, which is a big positive.
Other than that, your party can be built however you like. We enjoyed taking Jacquine and Aleister as both of these Exemplars have great position-altering abilities. Not only that, but Jacquine also has a very good BP damage stat, which is always nice.
Silas is very straightforward, but also a tad awkward. His minions can really throw a spanner in the works, as all three can be a pain to deal with and require your constant attention as they throw out their unique attacks and patterns. Not to mention, they are always getting in the way.
Massive amounts of damage and crowd control are needed, so wherever possible, use powerful AOE Deathblows to cut through the chaff. You can also just move Silas around the arena and get him in range to nuke him.
Be wary of the Trance tiles that spawn in, and make sure you are keeping Silas well away from them. At the same time, be sure to move Silas onto the green tiles for a substantial boost in your DPS.
With Silas down, you are one boss away from completing Chapter Two.
