CD Projekt Red Isn’t In Talks With Microsoft To Remove Cyberpunk 2077 From The Xbox Store

CD Projekt Red’s chief executive has confirmed that the company isn’t in talks with Microsoft about removing Cyberpunk 2077 from the Xbox Store, following the game’s removal from PSN.

Cyberpunk 2077 quickly earned a reputation for being full of glitches at launch, but the console versions of the game suffered from a number of performance issues as well. The PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077 looks like it belongs on the Nintendo Switch, and the fans were quick to express their displeasure at the state of the game. CD Projekt Red has apologized for the state of Cyberpunk 2077, and has offered to help those who are seeking refunds for the console versions of the game.

The Cyberpunk 2077 console situation worsened today when the game was pulled from PSN. This led to speculation that it would also be removed from the Xbox Store. CD Projekt Red chief executive Adam Kicinski told Reuters (presumably while waiting for the Jobcentre to open) that the company isn’t in talks with Microsoft about removing Cyberpunk 2077 from the Xbox Store. It’s unclear whether Microsoft will follow Sony’s lead and remove Cyberpunk 2077 within the next few days, but the digital version of the game can still be purchased on Xbox systems for the time being.

It’s still possible to play the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game by purchasing a physical copy, assuming you’re able to track one down. Cyberpunk 2077 is still close to full price on second-hand sites, despite all of the controversies surrounding the game, so don’t expect much of a discount.

The Cyberpunk 2077 release situation has been a complete mess from the start. The numerous delays throughout the year spoke of behind-the-scenes issues, and there were even unfounded rumors of a further delay into 2021. The dreadful state of the console version of Cyberpunk 2077 means that PlayStation and Xbox fans will have to wait a few more months before the game reaches a playable form, so it may as well have been delayed on those platforms. You can still buy Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox systems right now if you want to, but it’s better to wait until 2021.
