Candy Crush Saga is giving unlimited lives due to coronavirus lockdown

We're living in strange times, strange times indeed.

The Covid-19 outbreak has meant that many gamers have seen a negative impact thanks to the lockdowns being enforced around the world: from slower PlayStation download speeds to repeat instances of services going offline under the server strain.

The good news is, though, that some companies are responding to the crisis by removing gating mechanics on their games, and even changing the way they work altogether.

The latest update we've seen to popular games altering the way they play is from Candy Crush – where developer King is giving away infinite lives.

"Every day of this week, you get 24 hrs of unlimited lives," reads an in-game message when you boot up the app.

"From all of us who make Candy Crush, we hope this helps out, even if it's just a little bit."

It's perfect timing for players that want to turn their brain off and swipe at a screen as they're watching Disney+ or a ( newly throttled ) Netflix series.

Usually, you only get a limited amount of lives with which to try and beat a level per day – but now you get endless attempts as you sit and wait out the worst of the virus.

All of King’s games, including Candy Crush Saga, Candy Crush Soda Saga, Candy Crush Jelly Saga, Candy Crush Friends Saga, Farm Heroes Saga, Bubble Witch 3 Saga, and Pet Rescue Saga will be running this promotion, too.

You need to log in each day to activate the free lives.

Have fun, and enjoy the distraction.
