The restock of the highly sought after device started online and included both the physical and digital editions of the PS5. Individual stores and hubs will be deciding when to release the stock they have been sent, the Express previously reported.

Argos is selling the standard PS5 for £449.99 and the digital one for £359.99, which some elated shoppers were able to get their hands on this morning.

However, when trying to buy the item now, the Argos website sends customers to a page explaining that the console is currently unavailable.

Some shoppers who managed to bag themselves a PS5 have been sharing how they managed to do it online.

One said: “Waking up conveniently at 4am and deciding to check Argos *just in case*. Apparently I own a PS5 now, after what was probably the most painless experience of my life.”

A second added: “Finally got a #ps5 took me 5 hours of constant refreshing on the Argos website but it’s paid off now i just need a lift to Dundee that’s not far from Milton Keynes is it? #ps5restock #bedtime.”

Another said: “This is how I just had to order my PS5 from Argos…

“1: Download the app
2: Add PS5 to wishlist
3: Add it to basket
4: Log into PC Website
5: Click Checkout (Doesn’t let you checkout)
6: Add batteries to cart
7: Click Checkout

“You’ve now ordered a PS5, just add batteries lol!”

With the restock reportedly starting in the very early hours of the morning, many shoppers have been sharing their frustration at being unable to buy a console.

One said: “3am terrible time for people with jobs who work.”

Another added: “Why do Argos always drop PS5’s in the middle of the night? What’s their problem?”

A third said: “No joy getting a #PS5 from #Argos this morning. I *was* able to add the disc version to my basket, but by the time I entered my details and got to the payment screen, my nearest store was out of stock. And naturally, home deliveries were also a no go. The hunt continues…”

Someone with a similar experience added: “I’m so salty. i paid for a ps5 and i didn’t get a confirmation email. apparently that means ur order failed to go through. @Argos_Online @ArgosHelpers they took my money though and now i gotta wait for a week for it to get it back 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 :)”

Responding to some furious customers on Twitter, the Argos customer service account said: “Stock is very fluid, so if there is one piece of stock in a store and more than one customer goes through attempting to placing the order, that one piece will be allocated to the customer that payment gets confirmed for first, after that the system checks if stock is available at the warehouses to send to store for the other orders. We are sorry you were unsuccessful at this time.”
