Animal Crossing is adding a bunch of Mario-themed items on March 1, including functioning Warp Pipes that let you quickly travel across your island.
The news was announced during the latest Nintendo Direct, where viewers were treated to some adorable footage of villagers dressed up as Mario, Peach, Luigi, and even Wario. After wandering around their island, the villager jumps onto a Warp Pipe – before being sucked inside and transported to another part of the island. You can check out the awesome new content in the reveal trailer below:
The free update will be available on February 25, although the new items won’t appear in the Nook Shop until March 1.
Animal Crossing might not be at the height of its popularity, but it’s great to see continued support from Nintendo. From seasonal events and constant updates, there’s always something new to experience on your island paradise.
In fact, Animal Crossing is still popping up in the news, as Last Week Tonight recently took aim at the idyllic sim. After returning from a lengthy hiatus, John Oliver discussed New Horizons and the role it’s played in the current pandemic – before speculating on its role in the inevitable “Next Pandemic.”
If you’re one of the thousands of players that have abandoned their island in recent months, March 1 might be a great time to head back to your virtual home.
