During the 2019 Pokémon Press Conference, Game Freak revealed a new cloud-based Pokémon storage system, Pokémon Home.
While the Nintendo 3DS version, Pokémon Bank, only let players store Pokémon on their console, Home will let players transfer Pokémon from other devices as well. The app will be usable through mobile devices and will allow trainers to trade with each other locally and globally.
Based on a diagram shown during the conference, it appears that Pokémon will be transferable from Pokémon Go, Pokémon Bank, Let’s Go, Pikachu!, Let’s Go, Eevee!, and Pokémon Sword and Shield. However, Pokémon will only be able to move to Sword and Shield from Pokémon Home, likely to avoid any confusion with new Pokémon in older games.
Pokémon Bank costs $4.99 a year, but it’s unknown at this time if a subscription will be needed for Pokémon Home as well.
Game Freak plans on releasing Pokémon Home in early 2020.
