OGA Dota PIT Season 4: Europe/CIS continued today with three elimination series – the first two seeing Team Nigma versus mudgolems and Alliance versus Virtus.pro, with the two of these teams losing their tournament lives.
Starting things off in the day would be Nigma and mudgolems
which would be a rather uneventful and one-sided series. Although mg did everything
in their power to keep up with Nigma – making some brilliant plays when called
upon, it was not near enough to contest a series against the powerhouse squad.
After almost making a comeback in game one, but eventually succumbing to the
Amer “Miracle-“ Al-Barkawi Anti-Mage, mg seemed deflated and game two quickly
got away from them, as Nigma secured a 2-0 victory.
With that, unfortunately for mudgolems, they are eliminated
from the OGA Dota PIT Season 4: EU/CIS event, while Nigma will move on to face
the victor of the next elimination series.
Virtus.pro and Alliance, the two winners of EPIC League Division
1 and 2 respectively, would be going head-to-head in the second elimination series
of the day. While VP have shown some great form lately, they were sent packing
into the lower bracket on day one of the event, while Alliance were overcome by
Natus Vincere just yesterday – now hoping to avoid an early exit and the two
teams were set to give us an amazing series.
VP were the first team to strike, taking a commanding and
relatively easy victory in the first game of the series. Alliance seemed
completely overwhelmed by their opponents as they barely scraped together a
total of nine kills over the 41-minute game, as VP took the series lead.
However, game two was an amazing turnaround from Alliance – even without a
plethora of kills going either way. Alliance made sure they negated everything
coming out from Egor “epileptick1d” Grigorenko’s Sven and push their way into a
tied series – and a decisive game three.
It was a very even game three for a little over half an
hour, which was when everything opened up across the map. Following a massive
team fight, VP claimed the mid lane of barracks, but as Alliance respawned,
they cleaned up their opponents and marched down the middle of the map to even
up the barracks situation. While things continued back and forth for some time,
Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov’s Juggernaut as well as Linus “Limmp” Blomdin’s
Death Prophet were becoming far too much for VP to handle and the ensuing team
fights proved that, as VP crumbled.
While VP tried to throw everything that they could at their
opponents, including a Divine Rapier Sven, there was nothing that they could do
to quelle the Alliance onslaught which ripped through their ancient and ended
the series. Unfortunately for VP, they would be on the losing end, thus being
eliminated from the OGA Dota PIT Season 4: EU/CIS event, while Alliance would
survive – for now.
Later today the event continues with Na’Vi and OG fighting
in the upper bracket finals before a final elimination series for the day
between Nigma and Alliance.
