Unilever Brand OMO Sports Sponsors VALORANT Tournament in Brazil

Organized by the professional streamer Rafael “Rakin” Knittel and the gaming entertainment platform Final Level, the Rakin Cup by OMO Sports is a VALORANT tournament that will take place Oct. 1-6,  with applications being accepted from the first 256  teams who sign up starting Sept. 25. The prize pool adds up to $20K BRL ($3.58K USD).

The competition is sponsoredis being sponsored by non-endemic brand OMO Sports, which is a traditional cleaning product brand from Unilever focused on sports players and audiences. The investment in the esports scene was explained to The Esports Observer by the OMO Sports Marketing Manager Beatriz Seabra:

“We believe in the potential of this segment to grow more and more, as we understand that it has the same capacity to unite and positively affect people’s emotions, especially among young people, who are an important audience for OMO. Therefore, the brand, which always reinvents itself to be with its consumers inside and outside the laundry, seeks to participate more and more actively in this universe.”

Seabra also confirmed that this won’t be the last time OMO participates in  esports, but “for strategic reasons, we cannot open the planning for the next year.”
