OMEGA League confirms season 2 for late October 2020

 As we head into the
final day of OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division, Epic Esports Events has
confirmed a second season of amazing Dota 2 action for later this year.

OMEGA League has seen some absolutely brilliant Dota 2
action since the middle of August, with 12 teams from the CIS and EU regions
all fighting to become the champions and claim their share of the massive $500,000
prize pool. As the event’s first season winds down, the event organisers have
give us information for a new season which will come to us later this year.
According to Epic Esports Events the second season of OMEGA League will, once
again, feature two divisions and also include both European and CIS teams once
more.

However, each division will no longer feature 12 teams as
they are decreased to 10 – with a complete round robin for the group stages
rather than the current two group format. Following this round robin group
stage, the top four teams will all move into the upper bracket of playoffs,
while the teams in fifth to eighth place will join the top four teams from the
secondary division in the play-in stage. The victors of the play-in stage will
progress into the lower bracket playoff stage, while the 9th and 10th
place of the first division will move into the secondary division.

Currently five teams have been confirmed for the first division
as Alliance, Team Liquid, OG, Team Nigma and Team Secret will all be making
their return to the event. Mark Averbukh, Epic Esports Events Product Director
had the following to say on the new tournament,

The first season of OMEGA League has proven the chosen format to be a success. And we have improved it even further for the entire Dota community to enjoy. We can’t leave the teams with no competition and the fans — without their favorite show, so the tournament must go on! I want to thank our partners — the strongest teams of Europe and CIS — for their trust. Can’t wait to see you soon, Dota 2 fans!”

OMEGA League Season 2 will, once again, feature its amazing prize pool of $500,000 for the first division and $50,000 for the secondary. The event will feature qualifiers once again and will take place from October 28th through to December 13th, 2020. We look forward to more amazing Dota 2 series when OMEGA League returns later this year.
