With OG eliminated in the lower bracket finals, the grand
finals of the OGA Dota PIT Season 2: Europe/CIS event was set as Alliance would
take on Team Nigma for the championship.
When Nigma and Alliance met in the upper bracket finals just
yesterday, even though Alliance looked extremely strong early in the series, it
was Nigma who managed to rip through their opponents and become the first grand
finalists at OGA Dota PIT Season 2: EU/CIS. But Alliance were hungry for a
rematch and after a strong series against OG, they got their wish.
While Alliance had looked extremely good against OG, Nigma
just seemed to be in a category of their own as the grand finals got under way.
Although Alliance had some brief moments where they almost found their way into
the game, their difficulty to find farm on any of their core players showed as
even an Anti-Mage from Nikolay ‘Nikobaby’ Nikolav was unable to bring Alliance
out of hole. Game two was not even close though as Nigma turned up the heat and
destroyed their opponent, with Amer ‘Miracle’ Al-Barkawi’s Spectre going 15-2-17
over the 35-minute game, claiming nearly half of his team’s kills.
With match and championship point, Nigma were, once again,
looking amazing as they took the fight to Alliance with a Faceless Void, Magnus
and Warlock lineup – giving them an amazing team fight lineup.
For much of the early game period, they were in control, utilizing
their strong draft to their advantage but Alliance were not ready to give up
just yet as they begun to take over the team fights and even giving themselves
a small lead. The game descended into a massive back-and-forth brawl, as both
teams took huge team fights, expending cooldowns and buybacks to secure a lead.
When the dust settled, somehow Alliance were the ones left standing as they
managed to take the series to a fourth game.
Game four was a very scrappy affair as both teams found
skirmish battles across the map, with small advantages coming out for both
sides. But, once again, it was Alliance who were found the perfect initiations
and plays to undo any and everything Nigma did. A magnificent Slark from
Nikobaby combined with a Disruptor from Artiom ‘fng’ Barshack was the downfall
of Nigma as the series was now tied at 2-2.
The final and decisive game between the two teams was
exactly what we expected – another back-and-forth brawl, with neither wanting
to give up control and lose the series. The score at the end of the 42-minute
battle was 38-39, with Nigma managing to squeeze out the victory, after being
far behind in the mid-game period.
Unfortunately for Alliance, their amazing comeback does not
end in a total reverse sweep as Nigma are crowned champions of OGA Dota PIT
Season 2: EU/CIS – their first victory at an event since March this year and
done without their famed captain, Kuro ‘KuroKy’ Salehi Takhasomi.
