Garmin introduces esports smartwatch – Esports Insider

Garmin has revealed a new esports smartwatch — the Instinct Esports Edition — designed to help players track and livestream biometric data.

The Instinct Esports Edition combines Garmin’s health and fitness tracking technology with custom features designed for gamers. Using its dedicated esports activity function, the smartwatch can track and analyse heart rate and stress levels during matches, as well as spotting long-term trends.

Garmin also introduced its new “STR3AMUP!” PC streaming tool, which allows users to livestream biometric data to audiences. The Instinct Esports Edition watch can be used in either smartphone or esports mode.

In esports mode, the watch displays heart rate, stress levels, time of day, and a game timer. As with other Garmin watches, users can sync their activity to the Garmin Connect app to store and track data.

Dan Bartel, Garmin Vice President of Sales commented in a release: “Elite athletes around the world depend on Garmin products to monitor and improve their performance. With the Instinct Esports Edition, esports athletes can tap into that same technology to track and examine how their body responds to intense competition.

“Players can also use Instinct’s data to make adjustments in their daily lives, whether it be altering sleep patterns or activity levels, which can result in increased cognitive and physical performance during play.”

The new watch features a black and red colour scheme, high-contrast display and a “rugged,” light-weight design. It provides up to 80 hours of battery life in esports mode and up to 14 days in smartwatch mode.

Availability and price point of the product were not disclosed at the time of the press release.

Esports Insider says: After Gucci’s sold-out Fnatic watch collaboration, it was only a matter of time before other luxury brands and watchmakers developed their own esports product. Unlike Gucci, however, Garmin’s watch has features specific to the gamer market.
