Charity esports event Gamers Without Borders returns in 2021 with a charity prize pool of $10M USD. The nine-week online global competition will begin June 5 and feature competitions in Rainbow Six Siege, Fortnite, Rocket League, PUBG Mobile, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This year’s theme is “No One Left Behind.”
The online competition is being put together by ESL, the Saudi Esports Federation, and its chairman, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan of Saudi Arabia. UNICEF is also a partner once again this year.
This year’s event has a focus on generating money to get COVID-19 vaccines into countries that are struggling to immunize their populations.
“It is important to understand that even with vaccines rolling out in developed nations, millions of others face the possibility of not being vaccinated for months or maybe years,” Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan said in a release.
The event will feature celebrity guests, pro players, and esports organizations to be announced at a later date. Last year’s event featured such guests as Snoop Dogg, Liam Payne, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dele Alli, and Paulo Dybala.
Viewers are encouraged to donate as well, and whatever the community generates will be added to the total prize pool.
Finally, a community competition for players of all abilities with daily marathons and play-and-go tournaments across Rainbow Six Siege, Fortnite, Rocket League, PUPG Mobile, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, Tekken 7, NBA 2K21, and Call of Duty will begin June 7.
Competitions will be broadcast on Gamers Without Borders’ website, YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook channels.
