Game Studio HiDef Launches With $7.5M Series A, Reunites Jace Hall and Rick Fox

New game studio HiDef has announced its launch alongside a $7.5M Series A financing round led by Wick Capital Partners. Little detail is available about the company’s first game project, with the funding to support beyond HiDef’s description of creating a “genre-defining metaverse.”

The company is led by CEO Anthony Castoro alongside Rick Fox, Jace Hall, and social impact consultant David Washington. Castoro is a games industry veteran having previously worked with companies such as EA and Codemasters, and most recently launching independent studio Protagonist Games.

HiDef reunites Fox and Hall, who were previously involved with esports organization Echo Fox, which was removed from the LCS amidst reported controversies surrounding one of its shareholders. Hall was also the co-chairman of the short-lived H1Z1 Pro League.

According to the company’s website it intends to create games using the games-as-service model.
