G2 has officially revealed the signing of Nikola “NiKo” Kovač to its Counter-Strike division. The Berlin-based organization had been linked to acquiring the Bosnian star for weeks.
NiKo will be making his debut with his new lineup at the BLAST Premier Fall Series where they’ll be competing in Group C and open against the Brazilian powerhouse FURIA.
This pickup pairs NiKo with his cousin Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač whom he’d predicted to come a successful player back in 2017. This certainly came to fruition as huNter- has soared to the top of Counter-Strike and continued to perform throughout his time on G2.
NiKo has been a hot commodity for years but sat comfortably on the FaZe Clan roster since March 2017 when he was signed from mousesports. According to Dot Esports he was transferred for a fee of roughly $500,000.
This does put the team at a 6-man roster and G2 addresses that to close out the post to their website.
“With this signing, we’re taking a new direction with our team. Over the course of the next few weeks, we’ll be evaluating the team and it’s progress to determine the optimal line-up for each match. We will provide more information on this in the coming days,” the post states.
