eyyou returns to Fnatic as Jabz departs from the roster

Having recently welcomed back Marc Polo “Raven” Luis Fausto
back to their roster, Fnatic have now moved forward with another huge change as
Nico “eyyou” Barcelon now makes his return to the team.

As July came to an end, Fnatic revealed that they would be
releasing Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon from their roster, with a triumphant
return to the team for Marc Polo “Raven” Luis Fausto quickly following. Since
this change, we have seen Fnatic partiticpate at the recently concluded ESL One
Thailand 2020: Asia, where they placed an admirable third, but considering some
of their other results this year, this was not enough. As such, it has now been
confirmed that Nico “eyyou” Barcelon shall be returning to the team after four
years – having recently taken a one-year hiatus from competitive Dota 2.

In a post made via the team’s Facebook page, Fnatic
confirmed the return of eyyou, following up with a brief touch on the ongoings
behind the scenes that led to this decision.

Looking back at our ESL Thailand run, we realized that there is a severe lack in commanding without Daryl “iceiceice” Koh who was on break during the tournament. Initially assigned to Jabz, he thought it will be better to assign leadership to someone else. We chose DJ to assume leadership roles and he agrees under the condition that he plays position 5, hence we switched him with Jabz.

Post-tournament, we discussed how should we move forward. It became clear to us that both Jabz and DJ perform better as position 4. Jabz also mentioned that he prefers playing position 4, therefore what we lack in our team is a true position 5.

After a thorough deliberation, Jabz and the management both decided that it is the best interest for us to mutually part ways and take this opportunity to work with a player that excels at position 5. Thus, we came up with eyyou as vouched by DJ, Raven and our coach Lee “SunBhie” Jeong-jae.”

Moving forward the full Fnatic roster will be as follows:

Moving forward the full Fnatic roster will be as follows:

  • Marc Polo “Raven” Luis Fausto
  • Kam “Moon” Boon Seng
  • Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang
  • Djardel “DJ” Mampusti
  • Nico “eyyou” Barcelon

It is currently unclear as to where Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong
will end up, but with the massive amounts of talent apparent in the Southeast
Asia region, there is no doubt that he will quickly find a new squad. At the
time of writing, Fnatic have no tournaments scheduled, so we will have to wait some
time before we see the new roster in action.
