After a rough showing against forZe yesterday, Evil Geniuses have managed to bounce back in their quarterfinals match against Natus Vincere. EG were able to take the series in a clean sweep and send Na’Vi home from EPICENTER.
EG came out on the back foot with Na’Vi taking a 7-2 lead before they would find their footing and grab five of the last six rounds. The second half the roles would swap and EG would only give up two rounds from their CT side on the way to a 16-10 victory. Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov showed off why he’s considered a top-level AWPer as he led his team with a +13 kill-to-death differential.
Things kicked off on the other side of the spectrum on Dust2, the second map, as EG soared off to a 6-1 lead from the T-side. Na’Vi would figure out their defense and be able to thwart the attacks of EG for seven of the next eight rounds to hold an 8-7 advantage at the half. The second half would be a nail biter with both teams fighting to close out the game in their favor. It would be EG to reach 15 first before Na’Vi would bring themselves within one of overtime before falling in the final round and being eliminated 2-0.
Ethen “Ethan” Arnold and Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz spearheaded the charge for EG with a +10 and +14 k/d and over 90 average damage per round.
EG has earned a rematch against mousesports with this victory. The two teams will battle for a shot at the grand finals tomorrow.
